About Us

Welcome to Diabetic-Recipes!

We are delighted that you found us.  Diabetic-Recipes.com, part of the Vertical Health family of websites, was founded in 1997 by Frances Towner Giedt and Bonnie Sanders Polin, PhD.

Frances and Bonnie wrote many diabetes-focused cookbooks together.  One of them—the Joslin Diabetes Gourmet Cookbook—was awarded the coveted James Beard Cookbook Award.  It’s the only diabetes cookbook to have ever won the James Beard Award.  It was also nominated for the renowned Julia Child Cookbook Award.  You can learn more about Frances and Bonnie here.

Diabetic-Recipes was created with one purpose:  to offer an ever-growing array of delicious, healthy recipes to people living with diabetes.  We always provide nutritional analysis and information on diabetic exchanges because we want to make it easy for you to eat well.

Diabetic-Recipes is full of useful menus to help you put your meals together—whether it’s for a family supper, a picnic in the park, or an elaborate holiday celebration.

Bon appétit!
